Big Changes!

Leaving the House, Finding the Road

Selling our house in Melbourne was one of the biggest decisions we’ve ever made — and one of the best. Letting go of bricks and mortar gave us the freedom to live life on the road full-time. Although we have been travelling for the past 18 months, we kept our home base.

We’d been talking about it for a while. The house was great, but our hearts were pulling us elsewhere. We wanted to explore, to travel without deadlines, and to spend our days discovering new places. So we did it — we sold up, packed the essentials, and hit the road.

There’s been a real sense of lightness since. No household bills. No fixed address. No waiting for the next holiday. Just the open road and the next stop on the map.

Of course, leaving family behind wasn’t easy. That part still stings. We’ll miss shared dinners and spontaneous catch-ups. But video calls help, and we’ve learned to make the most of the moments when we’re back in town.

We’ve gained more than we gave up. Time, space, and perspective. This life isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely for us. And so far, we wouldn’t change a thing.

That said, we know we won’t be on the road forever. One day, we’ll find a new place that feels like home — somewhere quiet, welcoming, and full of character. We’re not in a rush, but we’re keeping our eyes open. When it feels right, we’ll put down roots again.
