New here? Start your journey off the main road.

A simple guide to exploring our stories, using our tools, and finding your next favourite place in Australia.

Who we are

We’re Cam, Neil, and Zoe. Three full-time trevallers slowly wandering Australia one quiet road at a time. We take the long way round, chase soft light, and tell honest stories from places most people skip straight past.

Off the Main Road began as a way to capture the small things, the dusty tracks, the back-road bakeries, the country humour, the big skies that stay with you long after you’ve packed up camp.

If you like relaxed travel, real towns, and stories told with heart (and the occasional detour), you’re in the right place.

Our Slow-Travel Philosophy

We travel slowly, often very slowly, because the best bits tend to happen between the “must-see” stops. The roadside cuppa. The small conversation with a local. The sunrise no one else was awake for.

If there’s one thing we hope you take from OTMR, it’s this:

Go gently. Take your time. Let the day unfold.
The road is kinder when you’re not rushing.

A warm welcome to Off the Main Road — we’re glad you’re here.

Join the Journey

We send occasional stories from the road, early peeks at upcoming guides, and the quietly infamous Top-Secret Travel Dispatches.

If you enjoy slow travel, you’ll enjoy these.
