Off the Main Road Magazine: Thank You!

It's been a couple of weeks since Off the Main Road Magazine: the Outback Edition landed in inboxes and letterboxes, and we wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

We spent a long time on this issue. Months of writing, editing, and second-guessing captions at midnight, all building toward a moment we genuinely weren’t sure how people would respond to.

Turns out we didn’t need to worry.

The response since launch day has been better than we hoped for, and it’s meant a lot to hear from so many of you, whether that’s a message, an order, or just someone stopping us on the road to say they’d read it.

Because of that response, we’ve ordered a second print run. A new batch of the Outback Edition is on its way, so if you’ve been meaning to order but haven’t got around to it yet, now’s a great time.

If you’d rather not wait for a printed copy to arrive at your doorstep, the digital edition is available instantly, same 68 pages, same photography, available to read online anytime.

What's inside, if you missed it

Issue #1 is 68 pages covering outback Australia;

Across the Heart of Queensland: A full journey from Charleville to Cloncurry along the old stock routes

Journey: Due North, Tracing the Stuart Highway from Alice Springs up through the Territory

Gulf Country: The Other Outback, A look at one of the least-travelled corners of the country

A Traveller’s Notes spread on the Matilda Way: For anyone planning the drive themselves

A Few Days In: Charleville. An extended feature on one of our favourite outback towns

Spotlight: Lightning Ridge Everything that makes it one of the strangest, most memorable stops on the map

Side Quest: Boulia, Chasing the Min Min lights

Big Country: Close Up, A new recurring photography feature we’re genuinely excited to share

Plus much, much more!

Every image was shot on the road. Every story comes from somewhere we’ve actually stood.

Thank you again, genuinely, for reading, for ordering, and for following along. We’re already deep into working on Issue #2, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next!

Some of our other thoughts

Cameron

Cameron is a travel writer, photographer, and freelance copywriter with more than fifteen years of experience crafting stories that connect people and place. Travelling full-time on the road in a motorhome with his partner, he documents Australia’s quieter corners through Off the Main Road, a travel journal devoted to the towns, landscapes, and characters often overlooked by the tourist trail.

His writing blends observation with lived experience, drawing on a professional background in brand storytelling. With a photographer’s instinct and a writer’s eye for detail, Cameron captures moments that reveal the character of regional Australia, from weathered towns and open landscapes to the honest texture of life on the road.
