Camping at Chinchilla Weir

Chinchilla Weir turned out to be a fantastic spot for a peaceful camp. Located outside the town of Chinchilla, QLD, this donation-based campground offers a great spot to set up by the water. This was our second visit to Chincilla, so we knew our way around.

We arrived to find plenty of drive-through sites available, perfect for our setup. The weir is right next door, providing a calm backdrop for our stay. It was quiet and secluded—just what we were after. The camp itself is simple but comfortable, with lovely clean, modern amenities like toilets, showers and picnic tables, but there’s limited power sites which are very popular. so we relied on our own solar setup.

The donation system makes it an affordable option, and it’s easy to contribute to help maintain the camp. We stayed for a couple of nights, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the wildlife. The area was perfect for relaxing after a few days of travel.

Chinchilla Weir is an ideal stop if you’re looking for an easy, no-fuss camp with a beautiful setting. It’s a great place to unwind before heading out to explore the town or hit the road again. The donation camp has everything you need—just remember to come prepared for no power unless you are very lucky!
